Your Fathers Moustache changes name to Terra Trojans.
Trojans take both games, to continue from last season. The 2018-19 Season begins with the defending Lake City Cup Champions Your Fathers Moustache changing their name to the Terra Trojans. The change of name didn't change the results of the Champions, as they continued their winning ways with a pair of wins this past week.
The League's Season Opener had the Trojans defeat the replenished Secunda Mariners 11 to 7 on Tuesday. Tying the game with 4:08 remaining in regulation time. Then added four more goals for the victory.
Aaron Maillet led the way with 4 goals, with Neal Pashkoski, Sean Fraser, Blake Gallagher potting 2 each and Andrew Wiggington buring one. Pashkoski also had 5 helpers and Wiggington had 4 for the Terra Trojans.
The Mariners had 5 new players make their LCGHL debut. Ryan Morris found the twine twice, with Jordan Cox, Colin Carvery, Jamie McIntyre, Matt Ryder and Allan Power added singles.
In the second game of the week had a rematch of last seasons Lake City Cup Final, Realty Partner Rinkrats and the Trojans.
Terra jumped out to a 6 to 2 lead after the first period and the Rinkrats could never catch up, as the Trojans went on to win their second game of the week with a 11 to 8 thumping.
Andrew Wiggington and Sean Fraser each nailed 4 goals and 4 assists in the victory. Blake Gallagher had a pair, plus 5 helpers and Neal Pashkoski scored the other goal.
Rinkrats Matt English and Andrew Bonazza each found the net twice. Singles went to Stu Lenehan, Jeremy Mock, Tyler Doyle and Corey Banfield.
The Rinkrats will play the 2 games next week, starting on Tuesday against the Secunda Mariners and then the Terra Trojans on Thursday.
I would like to thank Secunda Mariners' John Robb, who stepped down in running the team for several years and helping make our League stronger today then ever before.
Introducing several new players to our League over the years makes us one of the most competitive Leagues around.
Also a shout out to Mariners Jim Morash as he retires from the League after 28 seasons. Jim was the leader and founder of the Lawrenctown Rangers and winning 6 Lake City Cup Championships with them. He joined the Mariners for his last 7 years and added 2 more Lake City Cups. No surprise Jim has his name on the Lake City Cup more then any other player that has played in our League.
Thanks again to both John and Jim for their contributions to the Lake City Gentlemen's Hockey League!
