The gap between the top three teams; Sandtrap Chiefs, Dartmouth Alpines and the Secunda Mariners, and the rest of the league widened this week, creating two races heading into the final quarter of the regular season schedule.
Tuesday night had the T.J. Devils end Your Fathers Moustache point streak with a convincing 7 to 4 victory. Devils' Steve Kinch led the way with a hattrick, including an empty net goal. Thursday night went ahead with their games despite the blizzard that hit the city. The league leading Sandtrap Chiefs, like the blizzard, blanked the Big Leagues' Rangers 6 to 0. Chiefs' Jason White collected his second straight shutout, blanked T.J. Devils 4 to 0 last week. The back to back shutouts was a first in the Chiefs 20 year history. Scott Cote, Brian McIntoch and Shane Gibbs added goals, giving the Chiefs a 6 points lead over the Alpines.
The blizzard hit the T.J. Devils as well as they were snowed over by the Secunda Mariners 9 to 1. Secunda's Keifer House powered the storm with 3 goals, including a penalty shot, and 2 assists. Andy Clark and Sandor Fizli each potted a pair, while Dana Drake and Dean Tucker added singles.
