Devils, Rangers & 'Bank Battle for Position

The season, in it's stretch run has a couple of races taking shape. The battle for 1st between the Sandtrap Chiefs, Dartmouth Alpines and Secunda Mariners heated up again this week, as well as the race for 4th, 5th and 6th between Big Leagues' Rangers, Scotiabank and the T.J. Devils, the latter three within 2 points of each other.
Tuesday had Scotiabank make the first move by doubling up Your Fathers Moustache 8 to 4. Mike MacIssac led the attack with 3 goals and an assist with Doug Mollon scoring 2 goals and Ed Joyce, Rodney MacIntosh, Danny Brewer adding singles for Scotiabank. Your Fathers Moustache's Andrew MacVicar potted a pair while Ken McDermit and Greg Matherson found the net once.
In the nightcap the T.J. Devils held on to defeat Big Leagues' Rangers 5 to 4. Both teams traded goals throughout the game, with the Devils never trailling in the contest. Five different goal scores helped the Devils to the victory. Rob Ritchie, Steve Kinch, Rhail Arsenault, Troy Ritcey and Kenny Hughes doing the damage. The Rangers replied with goals from Jim Morash, Allan Lake, Keith Harris and Renny Hickey.

Thursday night the Secunda Mariners move into a 2nd place tie with the Dartmouth Alpines, as they sunk Scotiabank 8 to 4. Mariners' Doug Clark led the assault scoring 2 goals and adding 4 helpers. Dean Tucker contributed with 2 goals and 3 assists, other scorers for Secunda were Dana Drake, Derek Taylor, Andrew Hawrylak and John Robb. Scotiabank answered with 2 goals from Don Murray and singles from Dan Guindon and Glen Buchanan.
The Rangers rebounded from Tuesday loss with a come from behind 5 to 4 victory over Your Fathers Moustache. Big Leagues had trailled 3 to 0 after the 1st period before Reg Bowes scored to wake up the Rangers. Reg also contributed with 3 assists, Allan Lake found the twine twice, including the game winner with 2:07 remaining, Mark Whebby and Richie Holmes rounded out the scoring for the Rangers. Your Fathers Moustache had plenty of chances to put them away, going 3 for 8 on the powerplay. Scoring in the loss was Mike Spurr, Andrew MacVicar, Stephan Fiest and John Ferguson.
The late game had the 1st place Sandtrap Chiefs hang on to defeat the 2nd place Dartmouth Alpines 5 to 3. The win opened up an 8 point lead on both the Alpines and Mariners with just 5 games remaining for both the Chiefs and Alpines and just 4 games left for the Mariners. League point leader, Roddy MacCormick once again led the charge scoring 2 goals and 2 assists for Sandtrap. Paul Wright also popped a pair with a helper and Craig Whynot started the scoring for the Chiefs. Dwight Lucas, Todd Parker and Glen MacDonald replied for the Alpines.

Some teams have questioned the age of some of the players on other teams.
All players must be 30 years of age or older, each team is also allowed to add a maxium of two players each season that are no younger than 27 years of age.
