Share Quarter Final In The 'Bank

The third and final game of the best of 3 Quarter Final between Scotiabank and the Big Leagues' Rangers took place Thursday night.
Scotiabank opened the series with a 7 to 2 thumping of the Rangers, with the Rangers tying the series at 1 by doubling up Scotiabank 4 to 2 in game 2.
Big Leagues' started the scoring of game 3 at the 13:56 mark of the 1st period on Shane Murphy's 2nd goal of the series. Dan Guindon tied the game at 1 with a blast from the point past goaltender Paul Forest. Reg Bowes fired a pair of goals to give the Rangers a 3 to 1 lead midway through the period. Scotiabank's Don Murray narrowed the score to 1, with his 1st of the playoffs. Big Leagues' Allan Lake regained the 2 goal lead at 4:17 of the 1st period. The 1st period ended with a goal by Todd Miles of Scotiabank with just 46 seconds remaining.
Scotiabank trailling 4 to 3 heading into the 2nd period, came out with a quick start, tying the game at 4, only 39 seconds into it, on a goal by Allen Coyle. Coyle's powerplay goal gave Scotiabank it's first lead of the game with his 3rd of the series at 12:11. Scotiabank continued to pressure the Rangers and it paid off with a pair of goals 11 seconds apart. Doug Mollon at 7:26 and Todd Miles 2nd of the game at 7:15, to open up a 7 to 4 lead. Scotiabank would add one more goal, on Doug Mollon's empty net goal.
The 8 to 4 victory gives Scotiabank a Semi Final date with the Sandtrap Chiefs. The Big Leagues' Rangers are eliminated in the 1st round for the 2nd straight year and only the second time in their 15 year history.
Game 1 of the Semi Final between Secunda Mariners and the Dartmouth Alpines started on Thursday as well.
Mariners' Dean Tucker and Alpines' Chris Boutilier traded goals in the 1st period. Both teams had several chances throughout the game, including one powerplay chance each. The game tied at 1 headed into overtime with neither team scoring, both teams called timeouts, in the 10 minute straight time period, to stop the clock.
With nothing settled after overtime, the Mariners and Alpines prepared for a 5 player shootout. The Alpines, being the home team had say on which team shoots first, and they picked Secunda.
First up for Secunda was Rick Findley, who scored to give them a 2 to 1 lead. Todd Paker of the Alpines failed to beat Olie Debue on his shot. Mariners' Derek Taylor scored on Scott MacDonald to open up a 2 goal lead. Dwight Lucas of Dartmouth shot next and failed to score. Doug Clark scored for Secunda, making it 4 to 1 and put pressure on Alpines' Glen MacDonald to score. Mariners' goaltender Debue stopped MacDonald and gave the Secunda Mariners a 1 game to none lead in the best of 3 Semi Final. Game 2 takes place next Tuesday.
