Share Scotiabank Makes A Deposit, Alpines Even Series

The 2005 Semi-Finals continued on two fronts on Tuesday. The Dartmouth Alpines battling the Secunda Mariners in game 2, trailling 1 game to 0 and Scotiabank taking on the Sandtrap Chiefs in game 1 of their best of 3 series.
Scotiabank fresh off their 2 games to 1 Quarter Final victory over the Big Leagues' Rangers. Scotiabank came out attacking, for an 8 to 2 thrashing of the Chiefs.
Scotiabank jumped out to a 2 to 0 lead on goals by Todd Miles and Danny Brewer 43 seconds apart. Darryl Braine cut the score in half with a powerplay goal for the Sandtrap, only to have Scotiabank regain the 2 goal lead 13 seconds later by Greg Sheffer. Danny Brewer would score his 2nd of the game with just 27 seconds remaining in the 1st period to lead 4 to 1 after one.
Scotiabank continued to increase their lead on a 2-man advantage at 16:08 of the 2nd on a goal by Mike MacIssac.
Rodney MacIntosh and Todd Miles' 2nd of the game, 47 seconds apart, halfway through the period, to give them a 7 to 1 lead. Chiefs' Paul Wright would add one more before Troy Stevens of Scotiabank finished off the games' scoring.
The Sandtrap Chiefs playing for the first time in two weeks, and it showed, as they looked very sloppy, caughing up the puck on several occasions. Scotiabank looked good taking advantage of the Chiefs' miscues.
The 3 time Lake City Cup Champions, The Dartmouth Alpines, facing elimination, dug down deep and held on to a 3 to 2 victory over the Secunda Mariners, evening the best of 3 series at 1.
Dartmouth jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead on goals by Scott MacKinnon, Darren Welsh's powerplay goal and Todd Parker.
Secunda's Keifer House ansewered before the 1st period ended.
The Mariners had a great opportunity to do some damage after Alpines' Peter Gallant took a 5 minute match penalty for spearing. Sandor Fizli scored a powerplay goal, to narrow the score to 3 to 2, but could not muster another goal, forcing a 3rd and final game.
Both teams were missing some key players in this game, for the Alpines, Jay Washington and David Denike and for the Mariners, Dana Drake, Shawn Doyle, Andrew Hawrylak and John Robb.
