Canadians liking the extra time.

Week 17 had old rivals the Dartmouth Alpines and the Bacardi Rangers meet up again. The Alpines past the Rangers 7 to 5 to remain in 1st place, while the Rangers lost their third straight game. Dartmouth's sharpshooters were Peter Gallant with a pair, including an empty netter, Dwight Lucas, Dave Denike, Todd Parker, Jeff Lockhart and Graham MacLeod with the game winner. Finding the twine for the Rangers was Craig Vincent and Shane Murphy with a couple each and Jim Morash. Bacardi were missing some of their big guns in Reg Bowes, Brian Urqhart, Mark Whebby, Scott Allison and Brian Melanson.

In the second game Tuesday night had the Rinkrats suffer their sixth straight loss, losing 8 to 5 to the Secunda Mariners. Tony Peers found the net twice, with Colin Peters, Kelly Serbu and Rob Ritchie added singles in the loss. Secunda's Keifer House and Doug Clarke potted hattricks, with John Robb and Derek Taylor added one each.

Thursday night had the Rinkrats woes continue as they fell to the Moose Light Shamrocks 7 to 1. After taking a 1 to 0 lead on a goal by Craig Stevens the Rinkrats collapsed to the Shamrocks who scored 7 unansewered goals. Jason Troini fired home the trick, with Steve Snell, Mark Walsh, Shane Gibbs and Craig Whynot rounding out the scoring. The victory was Moose Light's tenth straight win as they try to catch the Alpines for first place.

In the final game of the week had the Scotian Canadians having to put in a little extra time to get the victory for their second game in a row. The Canadians downed Your Fathers Moustache 5 to 4 in overtime. The Moustache, with the game tied at 4, awarded a powerplay with 42 seconds remaining in regulation time and carried over in OT, but failed to scored. The Canadians won their third straight game and climbed to within two points of fifth place Bacardi Rangers. Goals scorers for Scotian were John MacDonald, Todd Miles, Dwayne Coyle, Trevoe Chow and Don Murray with the OT winner. The Moustache lost their third straight game. Luke Morgan, Glenn Dahlgren, Sean Fraser and Dan Leblanc replied for YFM.
