Moustache out score Rinkrats.
Shamrocks keep winning.
Mariners nip Rangers.
Alpines thump the Rinkrats.With only three weeks away before the start of the 2008 Lake City Cup Playoffs, several teams are playing for playoff position. Your Fathers Moustache currently in 4th place, two points behind 3rd place Secunda Mariners, took on 7th place Rinkrats. The Rinkrats secure in the basement have nothing to go for, gave the Moustache all they could handle, but fell short losing 8 to 6 in a shootout. The 'rats jumped out to a 4 to 2 1st period lead on goals by Tony Peers with a pair, Kelly Serbu and Brad MacDonald. Justin Brown and Ross MacInnis replied for YFM. The Moustache turned it up in the 2nd, scoring five straight goals before the Rinkrats potted a pair. Scoring for the Moustache was Karl Penny, Jamie MacVicar, Justin Brown with his 2nd of the game, Andrew MacVicar and Brian Eisner. Craig Stevens and Brad MacDonald got the 'rats close, but Andrew MacVicar scored his 2nd into an empty net for the win.
In the nightcap the Moose Light Shamrocks continued their winning streak to 11 straight games tripling up Scotian Canadians 6 to 2. The Shamrocks had three with a pair, Trevor Doyle, Steve Snell and Mark Walsh, who also had a couple of helpers, speaking of assists, Rick Finlday helped on four of them. The Canadians had their 3 game winning streak snapped with the loss. Mike Sim and Danny Brewer found the net for Scotian. The Canadians currently in 6th place were 2 points behind 5th place Bacardi Rangers going into this weeks action.
Speaking of Bacardi, they looked to stop a 3 game losing streak, but fell short losing 4 to 3 to the Secunda Mariners. The Mariners still have eyes on 2nd place got goals from Derek Taylor with a pair, Jamie Wood and game winner by Doug Clarke on a powerplay with 1:27 remaining in regulation time. The Rangers slump now at 4 games got scoring from Brian Urqhart, Reg Bowes and Jim Morash.
The 1st place Dartmouth Alpines remained there with a 7 to 4 thumping of the Rinkrats. Darren Welsh and Dwight Lucas each potted a pair, while Terry MacDonald, Todd Parker, and Graham MacLeod added singles. Jeff Bigelow had five helpers in the victory. Justin Dowding and Rob Ritchie each had a pair for the Rinkrats, who now have lost 9 staight games.
