Shamrocks have a stranglehold on the Alpines.

The first game of the Lake City Cup Finals was a wide open affair, with twelve goals scored in a 7 to 5 victory for the Moose Light Shamrocks. Game two was the opposite, as the Shamrocks nipped the Dartmouth Alpines in tight checking game 3 to 2, to put a strangle hold on the series.

Dartmouth opened the scoring at 11:08 of the first period, on Dwight Lucas' first of the finals, assisted by linemates Jay Washington and Todd Parker. The Alpines did not hold the lead for long as Sebastien Decaens fired his sixth of the playoffs 48 seconds later to tie the game at one, defencemen Steve Snell and Rick Findlay assisted on the goal.
Todd Parker buried his fourth of the playoffs to give the Alpines a 2 to 1 lead with 3:02 remaining in the first period, Scott MacKinnon and Darren Welsh added the helpers.

Goaltenders Jason White and Todd Bengert, back in the paint for the Alpines, played strong game for their teams, keeping the game close.
Moose Light's Decaens popped in his second of the game with 5:14 remaining in regulation time, hard work down low by Paul Wright set up the tying goal. The assist by Wright was his playoff leading fourteenth point of the playoffs, giving him eight goals and six assists in six games.
The game appeared to be heading to overtime, when the Shamrocks were pressing in the Alpines zone and Sebastien Decaens, who was on his game and a threat all night, set up defenceman Steve Snell who blasted his second of the playoffs with just 31 seconds remaining in regulation time, to give the Shamrocks the lead for the first time in the game.

Moose Light held on for the win, despite an extra attacker for Dartmouth. The win gives them a 2 games to 0 lead in the best of five final.
Both teams are having a powerplay outage in the series, Dartmouth has gone 0 for 6, 0 for 5 in game two, while Moose Light went 0 for 2 in both game one and two.

Game Three take place next Tuesday, April 1st, where the Shamrocks hope to sweep the series and win their second Lake City Cup. Dartmouth will look to keep the series going, with their never say die play.
