Moustache even the Lake City Cup Finals at 2 games a piece by doubling up the Mariners by a score of 4 to 2; Game gets a little chippier; Final game of the season goes tonight at the Shearwater Arena at 9:30 pm.Your Fathers Moustache have forced a Game 5 in the Best of 5 Lake City Cup Finals, after defeating the Secunda Mariners 4 to 2 last night at the Shearwater Arena.
The Moustache opened the scoring on the powerplay at 13:19 of the 1st period, as Neal Pashkoski found the twine past Mariners' goaltender Andrew Sim, Aaron Akitt and Sean Fraser assisted on the goal.
Secunda's Derek Taylor tied the game up at 1 at the 6:45 mark of the period with help from Ian Marshall.
Mariners' Graeme Power, who missed Game 3, scored an unassisted goal past goaltender Todd Bengert of the Moustache, with 1:52 remaining in the 1st period. That goal would give the Mariners a 2 to 1 lead after the 1st period.
The game started to get a little more chippier as the 2nd period went on. Mariners' Steve Widmeyer took a penalty for body checking at 15:19, this brought a gathering of the teams and saw 10 minute misconducts to Mariners' Widmeyer and Chris O'Donnell, as well as Your Fathers Moustache's Kyle Cuvelier, their night was done.
The Moustache tied the game at 2, when Pashkoski fired his 2nd of the game, with help from Jeff MacNeil at 12:47.
YFM would take a lead with 6:58 remaining in regulation time, when Brad Stewart set up Terry Forbes.
With time running out on the Mariners, they pulled their goaltender Sim for an extra attacker, but could not beat Bengert.
Terry Forbes would score his 2nd of the game into an empty net with 51 seconds remaining and that is the way it would finish.
The Moustache would go 1 for 4 on the powerplay, while the Mariners went 0 for 3.
The 5th a deciding game goes tonight at 9:30 pm at the Shearwater Arena.
Your Fathers Moustache look to repeat as Lake City Cup Champions, while Secunda Mariners try win the Lake City Cup since 2009, both franchises are looking to claim their fifth Cup.
