Playoff Races Heating Up

The League, now in it's final third of the schedule, teams are playing each other for the last time before the Playoffs start.With this in mind, there were some interesting match-ups, as teams try to improve their positions in the standings. Starting on Tuesday, the T.J. Devils, in 4th place played the Dartmouth Alpines, 3rd place for the last time in the regular season. The Devils were currently 5 points behind the Alpines entering the game. Strong goaltending by Jamie O'Donnell and 3 goals and an assist by Dave Roode helped the Devils defeat the Alpines 6 to 2. In the late game, 8th place, Your Fathers Moustache took on 7th place Fairview Aces for the final time. Trailing the Aces by 4 points in the standings, Your Fathers Moustache pulled out a 5 to 2 victory. Led by Mark MacNeil's and Ken McDermit's 2 goal performances, helped Your Father Moustache move within 2 points of the Fairview Aces, for 7th place.

Thursday night games, began with a battle for 1st place, as the Sandtrap Chiefs held a 1 point lead on Secunda Mariners. The Chiefs built up a 5 to 2 lead, on a pair of goals by Paul Wright and Mark Walsh and held on to a 5 to 4 win over the Mariners. Brian McIntoch had the winner for the Chiefs, while Mariners' Keifer House tallied with a pair. The win moved the Chiefs 3 points up on the Mariners, in their final meeting of the year. The T.J. Devils inched closer to the Alpines, with an 8 to 3 thumping of the Fairview Aces. Devils' Rob Ritchie had 2 goals and 2 assists, plus Rhail Arsenault chipped in with 5 helpers in the victory. The win moves the Devils 1 point behind the Alpines for 3rd place, with the Alpines having 1 game in hand. Aces' John Doward scored a pair in the loss. In the final game that evening, had Scotiabank take on the Big Leagues' Rangers. Both teams were tied in the standings with 17 points each. The Rangers, on 2 goals and an assist by Reg Bowes jumped out to a 3 to 0 lead and held on to 3 to 2 win. The win moves the Rangers 2 points up on Scotiabank, for 5th place overall, in their final meeting of the season.   

They may be last place in the standings, but are in first place in League fee payment. Your Fathers Moustache have PAID IN FULL their League fee. Great job guys, who's NEXT ?
