Let the Games Begin

Round Robin Recap: Wild take Mariners to OT; Signs and Moustache draw even; Mariners thump Alpines; Games Postponed due to Snow Storm; Moustache hand Alpines their 2nd loss; Rinkrats humble the Wild; Budget Update; Apology.

The 2015 Round Robin Playoffs began on Thursday, March 12th, with 2 games.
The first game had the pointless Wild Turkey's take on the 1st Place Secunda Mariners to overtime and ended up losing 2 to 1. They did however manage to get their first point of the season and in this short round robin series that is big, as the top 4 teams advance to the Semifinals.
The Mariners opened the scoring on a goal by Chris O'Donnell in the 1st period.
The Wild would tie it up at 1 before the period ended, as Pat Dufour found the twine.
Both goaltenders; Andrew Sim of the Mariners and Dan Chiddenton of the Turkey's held the fort in the 2nd period.
Overtime in the Round Robin works the same as the regular season, a 5 minute sudden death period, if no one scores the game would remain tied.
The Mariners would prevail in OT, just 21 seconds into it on a blast by Andrew Hawrylak.

The nightcap between Realty Partners Sold Signs and Your Fathers Moustache also went into overtime, but nothing was solved as it would end up 4 to 4.
Sold Signs had 2 goals from Tyler Noseworthy and singles from Tyson Aalders and Scott MacDonald.
Terry Forbes buried a pair for the Moustache with Aaron Akitt and Neal Paskoski adding the others.

The opening night of the Playoffs had all 4 teams get at least a point.

Week 2 of the Round Robin started Tuesday as the defending Lake City Cup Champions, Secunda Mariners blast the Dartmouth Alpines 8 to 3.
Jason Troini and Dean Tucker each scored a pair for the Mariners. Chris O'Donnell, Graeme Power, Cole Hawes and Kyle Morash rounded out the scoring for Secunda, who now are 2 and 0 in the Round Robin.
The Alpines played their first game, had 2 goals from David Bourne and 1 from Steve Nelson.

Due to the Snow Storm the city recieved on Wednesday the Dartmouth Sportsplex remained closed on Thursday, March 19th and the games between the Sold Signs vs Rinkrats and Turkey's vs Moustache will be rescheduled.

Week 3 of the Round Robin had 2 games on Tuesday. The first game had Your Fathers Moustache winning their first game of the Round Robin Series, with a 5 to 2 victory over the Dartmouth Alpines, who now fall to 0 and 2 with only 1 game remaining.
The Moustache had 5 different goal scorers; Kyle Cuvelier, Terry Forbes, Aaron Akitt, Guy Boudreau and Brad Stewart doing all the damage.
Jeff Lockhart of the Alpines scored on a penalty shot past goaltender Todd Bengert. Nick Croft also scored for Dartmouth.

The late game had the Realty Partner Rinkrats play their first game of the Round Robin and handed the Wild Turkey's a 6 to 1 thumping.
Rinkrats were led by Justin Dowding's 2 goals, with Huey Lasaga, Scott Leverman, Luke MacDonald and Shawn Hurley adding singles.
The Wild's lone goal was from Todd Miles.

There were no games scheduled for Thursday, March 26th due to the set up of the "Price is Right" show happening at the Dartmouth Sportsplex on Friday.
