Rinkrats vs Moustache open up the 2016 Round Robin

Game 1 of the Round Robin; Moustache outlast Rinkrats; Sold Signs thump the Wild, Mariners blank Alpines.

The 2016 Round Robin started Thursday, with the bottom 3 teams from the Regular Season each playing the the top 3 teams 1 game each, with the top 4 teams in a the Round Robin Standings advancing to the Best of 3 Semi Finals.

The first game played, saw the Realty Partner Rinkrats (5th Place) fall to Your Fathers Moustache (1st Place) 7 to 4.
The Mouatache trailed after the 1st period 3 to 2, but scored 5 staright 2nd period goals, with the Rinkrats scoring the last goal of the game.
Aaron Akitt of YFM, led the way with a pair of goals and a helper, five other players would contribute to the victory; Stewart MacRae, Sean Fraser, Terry Forbes, Jeff MacNeil and Neal Pashkoski.
The Rinkrats had 4 different goal scorers; Blake Trask, Chris MacNeil, Rob Ritchie and Joe Sanford.

The late game had the 3rd Place Realty Partners Sold Signs thump the 6th Place Wild Turkey's 9 to 4.
Stu Lenehan, Max Lessard, Tyson Aalders and Josh Coleman each scored 2 goals, with Clayton Rogers adding the other.
The Sold Signs jumped out to a 4 to 0 1st period lead and the outscored the Wild 5 to 4 in the 2nd period.
Nick Sheffer and Todd Miles each had a pair for the Wild Turkey's.

Tuesday's game had the Secunda Mariners (2nd Place) blank the Dartmouth Alpines (4th Place) 5 to 0.
The game was a lot closer than the score indicates, with both goaltenders playing very well. Andrew Sim picked up the shutout, and the Mariners scored on their chances.
Chris O'Donnell lead the charge with 2 goals and 2 assists, including the game winner. Evan Cheverie also had a couple of goals, with Tyler Hawes adding the other in the victory.

After the Game 1 of the Round Robin, we see the Secunda Mariners, Realty Partners Sold Signs and Your Fathers Moutache, the top three teams from the regular season, lead the Round Robin with 2 points each.

Tuesday had a second game that night, Game 2 for the Rinkrats and Sold Signs.
This game was played under protest by the Rinkrats, claiming the Sold Signs had ineligible players playing in the game and protested that Jamie Harvey, 2 games and Jordan Lind, 1 game, had not played the amount of games, 9, during the regular season to be eligible. The Rinkrats won their protest and were awarded a 7 to 2 victory. 5 goals, minimum, awarded to the team winning.   
This was a very close back and forth game with both teams goaltenders, Tyler Ravlo of the Rinkrats and Keith Walters for Sold Signs keeping their teams in it.
The Rinkrats opened the scoring on a goal from Mark Tanner and was followed up by Dave Roode. The Sold Signs would get one late in the 1st period, from Jamie Harvey, to trail 2 to 1 going into the 2nd period.
The Sold Signs would tie the game up at 2 with 4:06 remaining in the 2nd period, on a blast from Jordan Lind.
This forced the game into overtime with neither team managing to get another one past Ravlo and Walters.
​Due to the protest the Rinkrats were awrded 2 points and Sold Signs 0 points.

There were no games Thursday, because of th SEDHMA Hockey Tournament being held in the city.
