Winners and Losers

The last night of the 2016 Round Robin, began with the Dartmouth Alpines needing to defeat the Regular Season Champions, Your Fathers Moustache, to have any hope of advancing to the Semi Finals.
The Moustache would open up a 4 to 0 lead after the 1st period, on goals by Jamie Caron with 2, Guy Boudreau and Neal Pashkoski.
This would be all they needed to go 3 and 0 in the Round Robin and a chance to take 1st Place, depending on the Secunda Mariners - Rinkrats game which followed theirs.
The Dartmouth Alpines never gave up and had 2 goals from Matt Quinn in the 2nd period, but would fall short, losing 4 to 2 and go winless in the Round Robin.

The nightcap between the Secunda Mariners and Realty Partner Rinkrats  would determine who they would meet in the Best of 3 Semi Final.
The Rinkrats took it to the Mariners in the 1st period, leading 4 to 1 going into the 2nd.
Chris MacNeil, Scott Leverman, Blake Trask and Justin Dowding found the twine for the Rinkrats.
Evan Cheverie of the Mariners scored with 1:13 remaining in the period to get them on the board.
The late goal seem to spark the Mariners, as Jason Troini burried a pair, just over 3 minutes in the 2nd, to narrow the score to 4 to 3.
Rinkrats' Blake Trask would fire his 2nd of the game and restore a 2 goal lead.
Secunda kept pushing and were rewarded with 2 goals to tie the game at 5. Jordan Cox and Evan Cheverie's 2nd of the game.
The Mariners' Tyler Hawes would take a penalty with 38 seconds left in the 2nd period. They would manage to hold on, forcing overtime and would kill the remaining time off.
As luck would have it Tyler Hawes would score for the Mariners, giving them a 6 to 5 victory.

The Semi Finals are now set, with the Realty Partner Rinkrats playing against the defending Lake City Cup Champions Your Fathers Moustache.
The other Best of 3 Semi Final, sees the Realty Partners Sold Signs take on Secunda Mariners.

The Semi Finals Game 1 will begin with 2 games on Tuesday 19th followed by Game 2 on Thursday 21st.
No games next week, due to an ice covered event at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.
