Mariners and Moustache Victorious

2016 Semi Finals, Game 2; Moustache exterminate the Rinkrats; Mariners sail past Sold Signs; Lake City Cup Review.

Game 2 of the 2016 Semi Finals took place Thursday, with Your Fathers Moustache looking to advance to the Lake City Cup Final, with a win over the Realty Partner Rinkrats.
The Moustache jumped out to a 2 to 1 1st period lead on goals from Jeff MacNeil and Aaron Akitt. Jamie Blom replied for the Rinkrats.
YFM made it 3 to 1, less then 2 minutes into the 2nd on Matthew Beaver's blast. The Rinkrats narrowed it again, as Luke MacDonald found the twine, past Kody Cuvelier.
Back to back penalties hurt the Rinkrats as Your Fathers Moustache's Neal Pashkoski would score on both advantages, giving them a 5 to 2 lead, with just over 6 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The Rinkrats would capitalize on a late powerplay goal from Joe Sanford. That goal gave the Rinkrats a little bit of push and would score again with 1:15 remaining. Luke MacDonald getting his second of the night.
That was as far as the Rinkrats would go, losing 5 to 4 and being eliminated in 2 straight games to the Moustache.
Your Fathers Moustache advance the Lake City Cup Final for the forth year in a row, having won 2 of 3 Finals. They now await who the will play against.

Game 2 of the Secunda Mariners and Reaty Partners Sold Signs Semi Final was played Thursday and like Game 1, there were plenty of goal scoring.
Score in Game 1 on Tuesday, ended up 9 to 8 in overtime for the Mariners.
Score after the 1st period in Game 2, 6 to 4 Mariners.
Cole Hawes with a pair, Richard Cashen, Derek Tayor, Graeme Power and Chris O'Donnell adding singles. Sold Signs' Ryan Morris, Ryan Fortune, Scott MacDonald and Stu Lenehan scored.
A powerplay goal from Tyson Aalders narrowed the score to 6 to 5, just over 3 minutes in the 2nd. Less than 2 minutes later Tyler Hawes restored the 2 goal lead for the Mariners.
The 2nd period continued like this, one team scoring the other answering back. Stu Lenehan of Signs popped his 2nd of the game and 4th of the series, only to have the Mariners reply, this time a shorthanded goal from Jordan Cox.
Stu Lenehan would complete the hattrick with 5:58 remaining in regulaton time, to narrow the score 8 to 7 for the Mariners.
Just like the whole period, Secunda would regain the two goal lead, on a powerplay goal from Evan Cheverie, the overtime hero in Game 1. This would be the final goal of the shootout series, as Secunda eliminates Realty Partners in straight games and by the score of 9 to 7.
In the 2 game series the Mariners out scored the Sold Signs 18 to 15.
Secunda Mariners advance to the Lake City Cup Final.

The 2016 Lake City Cup Final, has the Secunda Mariners taking on the defending champions Your Father Moustache.
These are the two oldest franchises in the League, The Secunda Mariners entered the League in 1986, celebrating their 30th year. Your Fathers Moustache entered in 1987.
Both of these teams have won 5 Lake City Cups each.
With all of these years in the League they have only met once before in the Lake City Cup Final, that was in 2014 and Secunda defeated the Moustache 3 games 2.
This season they split the regular season series, 2 wins a piece. Moustache won the first game (5 to 0), as Secunda forfeited, due to not enough players.
There second meeting Your Fathers Moustache hammered th Mariners 8 to 3. The next two meetings were won by the Secunda by scores of 7 to 6 and 10 to 7.
Top scorers against each other this year were; from the Mostache, Stewart MacRae 7 goals, 3 assists for 10points, Guy Boudreau 1 goal and 5 helpers, Aaron Akitt with 3 goals and 2 assists, Sean Fraser and Neal Pashkoski each had 2 goals and 3 helpers.
The Mariners were led by Tyler Hawes 7 goals a 1 assist for 8 points, Chris O'Donnell 3 goals and 5 helpers for 8 points, Evan Cheverie's 1 goal and 5 assists and both Cole Hawes and Jordan Cox each had 1 goal and 4 helpers for 5 points.

It should be great Best of 3 Lake City Cup Final, which starts on Sunday, April 24th, with Game 2 on Tuesday 26th and if nessesary Game 3 on Thursday 28th.
