Moustache take Game 1

Game 1 of the Best of 3, 2016 Lake City Cup Final; Moustache open up Final with a 4 to 3 victory.

The 2016 Lake City Cup Final got underway on Sunday 24th, with the defending Lake City Cup Champions, Your Fathers Moustache defeating the Secunda Mariners 4 to 3, to take a one game to none lead, in the Best of 3 Final.
The Moustache got on the scoreboard 1:56 into the game on a shot from Stewart MacRae, assisted by Neal Pashkoski, giving them a 1 to 0 lead.
Secunda's Cole Hawes tied the game at one, on a shorthanded breakaway, at 14:14, Tyler Hawes sending Cole away.
Stewart MacRae would get his 2nd of the game, with 8:10 remaining in the 1st, Pashkoski assisting again, to open up a 2 to 1 lead for YFM. This would be how the 1st period would end.
Tyler Hawes of the Mariners, would tie the game at two, at 12:11 of the 2nd period, this time Cole Hawes getting the helper.
The whole game, the play was back and forth, with both teams getting chances. Goaltenders Kody Cuvelier of the Moustache and Andrew Sim of the Mariners kept the score close.
Secunda would take a penalty with 2:37 left in the 2nd period.
On the insuing powerplay, with 2:03 remaining in the regulation, Moustache's Stewart MacRae would complete his hattrick and give them a 3 to 2 lead, Terry Forbes assisting.
15 seconds later the Moustache would pot another to open up a 4 to 2 lead, with 1:48 on the clock. Neal Pashkoski getting his first of the Finals, MacRae and Forbes getting the helpers.
The Mariners did not give up and narrowed the score to 4 to 3 on a goal from Jordan Cox, with help from Cole Hawes and Kyle Morash, with only 48 seconds remaining. Unfortunately for the Mariners they ran out of time.

YFM went 1 for 3 on the powerplay, while Secunda were 0 for 4, but did get a shorthanded goal.
 
Your Fathers Moustache are now just one win away from repeating as Lake City Cup Champions.
Game 2 goes on Tuesday 26th at the Dartmouth Sportsplex, the Cup will be in the house.
