New CAHA Rules. Dartmouth Sportsplex Rules.

As we begin the 2016-17 season, the Lake City Gentlemen’s Hockey League 36th season.

I want to welcome those that are returning and anyone that is playing in our League for the first time.

First, I want to go over some League Rules.  Last season we allowed each team to be able to add 3 players that are 20 to 24 years of age and to let the League President know who these players are, so that all teams are aware of these players. The remainder of the players per team must be 25 years of age or older.
We will continue to have overtime in the regular season, if a game is tied at the end of regulation time. 1 - 5 minute straight time period, teams will play 4 on 4. If game is still tied after overtime it will remain a tied game.

The League continues to use CAHA Rules and they have a couple of rules that have been upgraded in punishment.
  1. Head contact, if it’s intentional, it will be a 4 minute double minor penalty. If a player pushes his hand in a guy’s face or a face wash, he will be assessed a 4 minute double minor.
  2. Slew footing a player will be a 4 minute double minor and a Game Misconduct. A player deliberate slew footing will be assessed a Match Penalty.
We are also beginning our 36th season at the Dartmouth Sportsplex and they have some rules and guide lines that they will be enforcing with all of their clients.

I have added the Contract or Ice Rental Agreement in the Web Site under “Sportsplex Rental Agreement”, please give it read.

A couple of key notes; last season our League was suspended twice for being accused of leaving beer cans in the dressing rooms. I had a meeting with Management and they over turned both suspensions. That being said they will be taking photos of the dressing rooms at the end of the night and if they find any evidence of alcohol or smoking they will be suspending the last group in the room, (I don’t believe that’s fair).

They are telling me that when you enter the assigned dressing rooms for our group and if we should find any evidence of alcohol or smoking before entering, you are to use the phone in the hallway and report the mess of the room and they will send someone down to check it out.

I need everyone to call, if they find their dressing room unacceptable.

I will not continue to defend our League if we are caught breaking the facilities rules. They have told me that a second suspension can remove our League from the building for the season!!!

Other things they have mentioned are;

Players going on the ice before the Operator has closed the end gate where the Ice Resurfacer comes on and off at. We will still get our time, just wait for it!

Staying late in the dressing room after game, we have a half hour after we get off the ice to vacate the dressing room. The facility can and will charge us for overtime of their employees.

Another rule they are enforcing is cancellation of ice time. The client (us) has to give 30 day notice of cancelling ice time to not have to pay for it. Less than 30 days we have to pay 50% of the rental cost up to 14 days before schedule rental. If cancelling 14 days or less we will have to pay 100% of the ice rental fee.
This affects our Playoff Semi Finals and Final. We play Best 2 out of 3 series, so if we have all series go 2 straight we will have to pay tentative Game 3, weather we use it or not.
