Playoff Preview II, The Semi's Part Two

2004-04-15

The T.J. Devils don't have much time to enjoy their Quarter Final victory over Scotiabank on Tuesday. Starting Thursday they have to face the Secunda Mariners in Game One of their Semi Final. The Devils will hope to have the same success over the Mariners as they did in the Regular Season, winning two out of three games and out scoring them 19 to 15. Keys: Secunda Mariners must not take the T.J. Devils lightly. Even though they won in two straight games over Your Fathers Moustache in their Quarter Final matchup. Game Two of the Series went into overtime and in that game they trailled the Moustache by two goals with less than 2 minutes remaining in regulation time. Andy Clark was the leading point getter in the first round with 5 goals and 3 assists. The Mariners will once again rely on their big guns of Keifer House, Steve Widmeyer and Chris Kelly for the bulk of their offence. Goaltender Cory Irving will have to be sharp, as he can expect more action around his crease. Keys: The T.J. Devils coming of an impressive 7 to 0 win in Game Three of their Quarter Final against Scotiabank, now face the top ranked Mariners. The Devils must continue to use their aggressive speed, both offensively and defensively. The biggest thing that T.J.'s must do is stay out of the penalty box, to many penalties against the number one powerplay during the Regular Season will result in a short series. Kenny Hughes' 4 goals and 4 assists was the Devils leading scorer against Scotiabank, including a Game Two overtime goal. Kenny is more useful on the ice than in the penalty box as he accumulated 18 PIMs in the first round. The Devils can rely on goaltender Jamie O'Donnell to possibly steal a game for them.
