The 27th Lake City Gentlemen's Hockey League regular season came to an end finally on Tuesday, with the last two make up games. The final night would decide who would finish in 3rd and 4th place. The Rinkrats trailing the Shamrocks by one point took on 5th place Bacardi Rangers. The 'rats fell short, 7 to 6 by the Rangers. With 3rd spot already won by the Shamrocks their game against the 2nd place Dartmouth Alpines had less meaning and lost 11 to 6 to close out the season.

Congratulations to the Secunda Mariners for winning their 4th Lake City Trophy for finishing in 1st place and a 1st round bye in the playoffs. 
Secunda Mariners' Corey Irving won top goaltender for the 2008-09 season and Rinkrats' Craig Perrin was the leagues top scorer with 35 goals, 23 asssists for 58 points in 20 games.

The 2009 Lake City Cup 1st round playoff match-ups are as follows; the 7th place Scotian Canadians will take on 2nd place Dartmouth Alpines, 3rd place Shamrocks play host to 6th place Your Fathers Moustache, and 5th place Bacardi Rangers will challenge the 4th place Rinkrats. 1st place Secunda Mariners get a first round bye.
The best of 3 series start on Thursday, March 5th with the Canadians vs Alpines at 9:00pm and Rangers vs Rinkrats at 10:15pm. See schedule for other games.

Players must have played 9 regular season games to be eligible for the playoffs, goaltenders must have played in the league this season.
