2021-10-03

Proof of Vaccination

Hello all,

Please read the following information pertaining to Phase 5 and the Provincial Vaccination Policy:

Phase 5 of Nova Scotia's Reopening Begins Monday, October 4, 2021.

•             Starting Monday, Oct.4, 2021, everyone 12 and over will be required to show proof of vaccination to enter the facility or an official doctor’s note that provides an exemption. Valid ID will also be required. Acceptable forms of valid ID include drivers license, passport, government issued ID card, health card, birth certificate, student card, or Secure Certificate of Indian Status.

•             There is a grace period for children just turning 12. Please refer to the Provincial Government Vaccine Policy for more information.

•             The Sportsplex has hired private security to check for proof of vaccine while we adjust to this new process. Please expect to see them at the entrance of the building starting Monday.

•             The Sportsplex has the right to ask for proof of vaccination or proof of age from anyone who looks to be 12 or older.

•             We will not be keeping any sort of database of vaccination status, so proof of vaccination will be required each time you enter the facility.

•             Based on recent provincial updates, non-medical facemasks will continue to be required when not actively participating in an activity or working out. Head to our website to review our mask policy.

•             You will be welcome to sit and socialize in our public seating areas, but masks must continue to be worn. Food and drink will not be permitted at this time.

•             Beginning Monday, Oct.4, 2021, arena rentals will be permitted access to the rink 30 minutes before their booking, and able to stay 30 minutes after the end of their rental. Gymnasium and Pool rentals will be permitted access 15 minutes prior to the start of their rental. Meeting Room rentals will be permitted access 10 minutes prior to the start of their rental. Time for group/facilitator set-up in the meeting room should be considered when initially booking the rental, as it is part of the duration of the rental.

•             All rental groups and gymnasium spectators will enter through the main entrance where proof of vaccination/ID will be checked.

•            Arena spectators will continue to enter the facility through the arena spectators entrance. If an arena rental group would like to host spectators, the group must have a safety rep or spectator volunteer to check proof of vaccination/ID before spectators enter the arena. Spectators must have proof of vaccination/ID with them for each rental.

•            Arena spectators must remain in the arena and are not permitted to access the rest of the facility. Please exit through arena doors.

•            All spectators are required to keep their mask on at all times. There is no food or beverage permitted in any public area of the facility. The only exception would be for those participating in an activity while they are permitted to remove their mask.

Please remember the vaccine policy is mandated by the government. If you have concerns with the policy, direct them to your government officials. Sportsplex staff will not be able to make exceptions to this policy for anyone.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at any time.

Thank you,

Tara
