Devils Get Burnt.....Twice

2004-11-12

It was not a good week for the T.J. Devils. The Devils were the only team playing twice in this shorten scheduled week. Starting on Tuesday they took on the Secunda Mariners and fell on the shortend of a 8 to 7 score. Secunda built up a big lead of 8 to 4 and held on to the victory, as the Devils scored 3 goals in the last 1:55. The Mariners had 7 different goal scorers, led by Dana Drake's 2 goals and 2 assists, Jeff Crowell, Sandor Fizli, Rick Findley, Andy Clark, Keifer House and Andrew Gauthier added singles for the win. Rhail Arsenault popped the trick and added a helper, while Dave Roode had a pair, with Mike Sanford and Steve Kinch rounded out the scoring for the Devils.
In the earlier game that night, had Your Fathers Moustache earn their first point of the season, as they drew to a 3 all overtime tie with Scotiabank. Mike Shea scored 2 goals and Jamie MacVicar notched a single for the Moustache, as they were just 1:51 away from the victory. Scotiabank's Rodney MacIntosh scored all 3 goals, with his hattrick goal becoming the game tying goal.

Thursday night began with the T.J. Devils getting thumped 11 to 3 to the Big Leagues' Rangers. The Devils playing with a short bench of only seven players, ran out of gas, as the Rangers scored 7 goals in the 2nd period. Steve Kinch had 2 of the goals, while Troy Ritcey added the third. The Rangers were led by Reg Bowes' 4 goals and an assist, Shane Murphy scored a trick, Mark Whebby had 2, Craig Vincent and Allan Lake nailed singles in the one sided win.
The final game of the week had the 5 and 1 Sandtrap Chiefs take on the 5 and 1 Dartmouth Alpines. Just like their first meeting of the year, the goaltenders were left out on a limb, as both teams played firewagon hockey. The Chiefs' Gord Dickie led the charge, scoring 3 goals and 3 assists, as Sandtrap outscored Dartmouth 10 to 8. The victory moved the Chiefs 2 points up on the Alpines for first place overall. Other scorers for the Chiefs were Roddy MacCormick with 3, Paul Wright 2, Scott Cote and Craig Whynot also found the twine. Dartmouth's Dave Fader potted 3 goals, while Jay Washington added a pair, David Denike, Chris Boutilier and Darren Welsh connected with singles in only their second loss of the season.

Please take note that the new pre-game warm-up format starts on Tuesday, November 16th, 2004.
