Moustache Make A Statement

2005-01-14

Your Fathers Moustache may be in last place in the standings with only 1 win and 2 ties in 15 games, but this week they made a statement to the rest of the league that they will not give you 2 points without a challenge.
Tuesday night, Your Fathers Moustache took on the 3rd place Secunda Mariners. The Moustache rallied from a 2 goal deficit to upset the Mariners 4 to 3. Four different goal scorers, Sean Fraser, Andrew MacVicar, Jeff Norrie and game winner Mike Spurr propelled the Moustache to victory. Rick Findley, Jeff Crowell and Andy Clark scored for the Mariners.
In the late game, the Sandtrap Chiefs held on to defeat Scotiabank 5 to 4. Scotiabank came back twice from 2 goals down only to fall short on a late goal by Chiefs' Roddy MacCormick, his 6th game winning goal of the season. Sandtrap's Gord Dickie found the net twice, with Paul Wright and Bill Morris adding to the win. Don Murray, Kyle Penny, Todd Miles and Allen Coyle replied for Scotiabank.

Thursday night had the Moustache take on their second challenge of the week and came away with a 6 all tie against 2nd place Dartmouth Alpines. Your Fathers Moustache was led by Craig MacDonald who had 2 goals and 3 assists, other scorers were Ken McDermit with 2, Mark MacNeil and Mike Shea added singles. The Alpines rebounded from 3 goals down to earn the point. Dartmouth's Glen MacDonald and Jay Washington potted a pair with Todd Parker and Dwight Lucas scoring late for the tie.
The Secunda Mariners snapped a 2 game losing steak by downing the Big Leagues' Rangers 6 to 2. Mariners' Derek Taylor and Andy Clark led the way with 2 goals each. John Robb and Jeff Crowell added singles for Secunda. Dave Naugle and Reg Bowes answered for the Rangers.
The last game of the night, had goaltender Jason White of the Sandtrap Chiefs earn his first shutout of the season as the Chiefs blanked the T.J. Devils 4 to 0.
Paul Wright scored two 1st period goals to lead the team to victory. Brian McIntoch and league leading scorer Roddy MacCormick buried a goal each in the 2nd period. The win increased the Chiefs lead in the standings to 6 points over 2nd place Dartmouth Alpines.
