The 5 goal lead forced the game into the mercy rule. The Rangers responded once more on a goal by Richie Holmes, only to be followed up by Rodney MacIntosh's 2nd of the game for Scotiabank.
The 7 to 2 thrashing, gives Scotiabank a 1 game to 0 lead.

Scotiabank were hoping for the series win, in game 2, but fell short, losing 4 to 2 to the Big Leagues' Rangers. Scotiabank had plenty of chances on the powerplay, but only went 1 for 7. The Rangers staved off the series sweep on 1st period goals by Richie Holmes, Mark Whebby and Allan Lake.
