The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

2003-12-05

THE GOOD: Sandtrap Chiefs entered the week one point behind first place Secunda Mariners. The Chiefs played two games this week, the first on Tuesday against Scotiabank. Sandtrap came back from a 3 to 1 deficit to defeat Scotiabank 4 to 3 in overtime. Craig Whynot was the hero for the Chiefs, scoring the winner with 1:05 remaining. On Thursday night the Chiefs contiued their winning ways by thumping Your Fathers Moustache 9 to 4. Gord Dickie and Paul Wright led the way with 3 goals and an assist each, Andrew MacVicar replied with a hat trick for the Moustache. The two wins along with Secunda 8 to 5 loss to the Dartmouth Alpines moved the Chiefs into first place. The Alpines victory snapped their four game losing steak.

THE BAD: Your Fathers Moustache continued to faulter this week, losing both of their games. Tuesday they fell 9 to 3 to the T.J. Devils and Thursday were upended by the Chiefs 9 to 4. The Moustache are now 0-10-0-0 to start the season.

THE UGLY: Unfortunely the League received a black eye on Thursday night when late in the game things got out of hand between  Big Leagues Rangers and The Fairview Aces . With less than five minutes remaining in the second period of a 3 to 1 Aces lead, two fights broke out and only 26 seconds later a third fight started. The Aces went on to defeat the Rangers 4 to 2. The League has very strict punishments set in place for things like fighting and game misconducts. The players involved in these incidents will be receiving suspensions with no appeals according to the Leagues Rules.
