Your Fathers Moustache defeated defending two time champion Rink Rats 3 to 2, in Game 5 of the Lake City Cup Final.

Your Fathers Moustache defeated defending two time champion Rink Rats 3 to 2, in Game 5 of the 2013 Lake City Cup Final. The 3 games to 2 victory, gave Your Father Moustache their 4th Lake City Cup, the last one being in 1997.

The 2013 Lake City Cup Final began with Game 1 of the Best of 5 series on Tuesday, March 26th. The defending Lake City Cup Champions Rink Rats took it to the regular season champions Your Fathers Moustache, building up a 3 to 0 lead after the 1st period on a pair of goals by Jeff Sanford and another by league veteran Rob Ritchie. Rink Rats Kevin Hurley made it 4 to 0 before Sean Fraser of the Moustache finally netted a goal. Kevin Prfrey made it 5 to 1, followed by  Sean Fraser 2nd of the game on the powerplay to narrow the score to 5 to 2. The Moustache could not get any more momentum and the Rats Justin Dowding finished off the scoring with a shorthanded marker with only 41 seconds remaining. The 6 to 2 win by the Rink Rats gave them a 1 game to 0 lead.


Game 2 saw Your Fathers Moustache bring their 'A' game. Sean Fraser started the scoring, with his 3rd of the series. Andrew MacVicar scored his 1st of the Final, with a 1st period shorthanded goal to give the Moustache a 2 to 0 lead after the opening period. The 2nd period was a little chippy as there were 10 minor penalties called. Your Fathers Moustache's powerplay was clicking, as they popped 3 power play goals passed Rink Rats Tyler Raulo. Brad Stewart, Kyle Cuvelier and Craig MacDonald fired home the three 2nd period goals to give Your Fathers Moustache a 5 to 0 victory, to tie the series at 1 game a piece. Cody Cuvelier picked up his second shutout of the playoffs.

Tuesday, April 2nd was the date for Game 3. With the seies tied at one, both teams played a great game and kept it close in the scoring. YFM
