Secunda Mariners take Game 1 of the Best of 5 Lake City Cup Finals.

The 2014 Lake City Cup Finals began on Tuesday with the Secunda Mariners jumping out to a series 1 to 0 lead over the defending Lake City Cup Champions' Your Fathers Moustache by a score of 3 to 1.

The Mariners started the scoring in the 1st period at 14:07, on a goal by Steve Widmeyer, with assists coming from Gerard Bray and Andrew Hawrylak.
Secunda increased their lead at 10:30 mark, on Graeme Power's 7th goal of the post season, Jason Troini and Rob Sneath added helpers giving the Mariners a 2 to 0 lead.

The 1st period would end that way, with the goaltenders Andrew Sim of the Mariners and Todd Bengert of the Moustache keeping the score close as both teams had several scoring chances.

Jason Troini opened the scoring in the 2nd period, with a powerplay goal at 13:56 to give the Mariners a 3 to 0 lead, Derek Taylor and Graeme Power assisting on the goal.

Both teams traded oppertunities, before Jamie MacVicar's 3rd of the playoffs put Your Fathers Moustache on the board at 7:50 of the 2nd, Neal Pashkoski assisted on the goal.
Try as they might the Moustache could not get any more past Sim.
The Secunda Mariners would hold on to the 3 to 1 victory.

Game 2 will be at the Dartmouth Sportsplex on Thursday, April 17th at 9:00 pm.
