2014-04-22

FYM's Sean Fraser, back for Game 3; Moustache stays alive with an 8 to 3 thumping of the Secunda Mariners; Game 4 Wednesday at Shearwater Arena.

Your Fathers Moustache hadn't lost 2 games in a row all season, until the first 2 games of the Lake City Finals, they weren't going to make it 3.

Facing a 3 game sweep by the Secunda Mariners and having their regular season's leading scorer, Sean Fraser, back in the line up or the change of scenary as the Finals moved to the smaller Shearwater Arena, 10 feet shorter in length of ice surface. Your Fathers Moustache came at the Mariners and their goaltender Andrew Sim hard and fast.

Goals seem to happen all at once in the first period, when YFM's Aaron Akitt scored at 15:03, with help from Craig MacDonald and Kyle Cuvelier. A minute and 17 seconds later Mariners' Jason Troini tied the game at 1, Andrew Hawrylak and Rob Sneath assisting. 1:33 after that Akitt scored his 2nd of the game, with Cuvelier helping out and scored his hattrick goal 32 seconds later from a feed from Neal Pashkoski.
That was all the scoring of the 1st period, as the Moustache had a 3 to 1 lead.

The Mariners opened the scoring in the 2nd period on a shorthanded goal by Steve Widmeyer and assist to Sneath at 17:38.
On the same powerplay Mostache's Glenn Dahlgren restored the 2 goal lead 18 seconds later, Sean Fraser and Terry Forbes assisted.
Secunda's Hawrylak blasted a shot from the point at 15:18 of the period, narrowing the score to 4 to 3, Derek Taylor and Chris O'Donnell assisting.
Dahlgren buried his 2nd of the night at 13:11, Forbes helping out, to make it 5 to 3 for the 'stache.
Sean Fraser of the Moustache scored his 1st and 2nd of the Finals at 11:57 and 11:07 to open up a 7 to 3 lead. The Moustache would add one more at 6:39 when Pashkoski found the twine past Sim.

Your Fathers Moustache staved off elimination and now trail the Lake City Cup Finals 2 games to 1.
