Prez Pots Four

2004-01-30

It was an interesting week for League President Kelly Saunders. It began on Monday with a front page article by Staff Reporter, Susan Bradley,  in the Chronical Herald - Mail Star, questioning League policies pertaining to injuries and suspensions. This was followed on Tuesday by the Chronical Herald - Mail Star's Editorial Cartoon by Bruce MacKinnon, referring to Monday's story. As for the games, in the early game Tuesday night, Your Fathers Moustache upset the high flying T.J. Devils 4 to 2, for only their second win of the season. Jamie MacVicar led the charge scoring 2 goals and adding an assist. In the nightcap, the Secunda Mariners temporarily moved back into first place, doubling up on Big Leagues' Rangers 8 to 4. The short bench of the Mariners was once again led by Keifer House, who scored 4 goals and added a couple of helpers for the win.

Thursday night's games started with the Dartmouth Alpines downing the Fairview Aces 7 to 4. Alpines' Jay Washington had the hattrick, while David Denike and Todd Parker scored 2 goals each. Blake Miller replied with 2 of his own for the Aces. In the middle game, the Sandtrap Chiefs received some goals for an unlikely source. Kelly Saunders potted his first 4 goals of the season including the winner in the Chiefs 8 to 5 victory over Your Fathers Moustache. The win moved the Chiefs back into first place. Kelly getting a goal is such rare occurance, that even the other team was congratulating him on his accomplishment. Chiefs' Roddy MacCormick was in a giving mood all night, contributing 6 assists. Andrew MacVicar scored 2 goals and an assist in the loss. In the last game of the night, the T.J. Devils rebounded from Tuesday's loss with a 7 to 6 win over Scotiabank. Scott Dicks applied a goal and 2 assists for the Devils, while Scotiabank's Allen Coyle and Danny Brewer each had 2 goals and an assist.
