Defending two time Lake City Cup Champions, the Dartmouth Alpines, are making a statement to the rest of the League, that they are not going away. On Tuesday night, playing against their long time rival, Big Leagues' Rangers, the Alpines led by Jay Washington's and Dwight Lucas' 2 goal performances, downed the Rangers 6 to 4. Reg Bowes replied with a pair for the Rangers. In the late game, Steve Widmeyer had 2 goals and 4 assists, as the Secunda Mariners doubled up on Scotiabank 8 to 4. Mariners' Keifer House had a hattrick, to increase his League leading totals to 33 goals, 28 assists for 61 points in just his 17th game.
Thursday night had the Big Leagues' Rangers rebound from Tuesday's loss, with a 4 to 3 victory over T. J. Devils. Rangers' Craig Vincent scored a pair of goals and Jim Morash had the winning goal in their win. In the second game, the Alpines added to their statement, blasting the last place Your Fathers Moustache 9 to 2. The win is the Alpines 5th in a row, out scoring the opposition 39 to 17 over their last 5 games. More importantly moves the Alpines just 3 points out of second place, behind the Mariners and 4 points back of first place Sandtrap Chiefs. Speaking of the Chiefs, they had their way with the short benched Fairview Aces. Led by defencemen Craig Whynot and Shane Gibbs, each with 2 goals and an assists, the Chiefs manhandled the Aces 10 to 3. League President Kelly Saunders failed to score, but did have 3 helpers in their victory.
